ReStore Celebrates 4th Anniversary |
|
The Habitat for Humanity/Buffalo ReStore will be celebrating its fourth anniversary on Saturday, July 11, 2009, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. 9:00 a.m. | Refreshments donated by Starbucks | 10:00 a.m.
| Special on-site broadcast of Domenic Cortese's "Hammertime" show. He will take calls from local homeowners and give advice on home improvements. |
Plans are under way for a barbecue and hands-on workshops on simple "do-it-yourself" projects. Door prizes have been donated by Quality Bindery Services, Bed Bath and Beyond, AutoZone, Gene McCarthy's Pub, Coo Coo U, Oddball, and others. Since 2005, the ReStore has served as an additional funding source for building Habitat houses here in Buffalo. The ReStore is a retail outlet selling reusable building supplies and household goods in support of Habitat for Humanity/Buffalo. All goods are donated by businesses and individuals across Western New York and all proceeds from the sales of these goods go directly toward building decent, affordable housing in Buffalo. The ReStore promotes neighborhood revitalization through the sale of low-cost building materials, makes home improvements more affordable to low-income families, encourages environmental sustainability and the use of re-useable materials, and encourages people to shop consciously in support of a local nonprofit working in their own community. |

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY - BUFFALO |
|
Helping God's people in need to obtain simple, decent housing since 1985! HFH/Buffalo is the Buffalo, New York affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization.
Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to pre-qualified families at no profit and with no interest charged while Habitat holds the mortgages. HFH/Buffalo is one of the largest HFH builders in the northeast. |

ReStore: Tell Me More About It |
|
Habitat for Humanity Buffalo (HFHB)’s ReStore sells quality new and used furniture, appliances, building materials, and household items at a fraction of normal retail prices. This new venture for HFHB has been very successful for many affiliates throughout the US. Some raise enough funds through ReStore sales to build an additional 10 or more houses per year. In addition to raising funds, the ReStore helps the environment by diverting thousands of tons of usable materials away from landfills.
Items sold by Habitat for Humanity ReStores are usually donated from individuals, building supply stores, or contractors who wish to show their support for Habitat. In addition to raising funds, ReStores help the environment by rechanneling good, usable materials into use. Everyone Wins! - Resource for recovering reusable supplies
- Customers receive good materials at deep discounts
- Habitat for Humanity raises funds to build new homes
- The planet is spared the dumping of waste
